Join us for a powerful kōrero and embodied healing experience with ORO ATUA, the kaupapa led by Jerome Kavanagh, Ngāti Kahungunu, Ngāti Tūwharetoa, Ngāti Rangi, whose journey with Taonga Puoro began as a deeply personal form of rongoā Māori.

From navigating mental health struggles at a young age to rediscovering healing through the sounds of his tūpuna, Jerome’s path has evolved into ORO ATUA — a living expression of hauora and reconnection through the revitalisation of Taonga Puoro.

Since 2021, Jerome and his partner Ruiha Turner, Ngāti Kahungunu ki Wairoa me Ngāti Pahauwera, have worked in partnership with Te Whatu Ora Hauora Māori to deliver wānanga across their tūpuna rohe as well as across the world — reaching thousands and supporting healing in response to intergenerational trauma.

This session will explore their kaupapa, the healing potential of sound, and the importance of grounding our wellbeing in mātauranga Māori.
