Workforce
The workforce is at the heart of any effective service delivery. As our models of health care develop to meet the contemporary needs of the people of Aotearoa, the workforce needs to adapt to reflect that. The lived experience and peer workforce is a key component of a redesigned mental health and addiction system. As is the development and support of emergent and established leaders in many diverse roles, especially mātanga Māori.
A critical component of an effective workforce is their ability to provide culturally safe care that honour’s Te Tiriti o Waitangi. We have incredible and inspiring leadership and workforce innovation across the motu creating more effective services and models and developing the workforce to be the best it can be.
Equity and Social Justice
Central to the work of Whāriki is to honour and amplify work that is delivering equity of health outcomes for those that systems have historically failed to serve well. Social justice is a critical component of a society where all people have the opportunity to live well and flourish.
Expanding Access and Improving Choice
Improving access and expanding choice are key components to a cohesive system that serves tāngata whai ora / people seeking wellbeing and their whānau / families. Services that are easy to find, enter and navigate, with a range of options available, support people to have their health needs met. Services that partner and collaborate across the health, education and social system that offers holistic person and family / whānau centered care. We have many amazing examples of services and health care models that are improving access and choice in Aotearoa.
