The workforce is at the heart of any effective service delivery. As our models of health care develop to meet the contemporary needs of the people of Aotearoa, the workforce needs to adapt to reflect that. The lived experience and peer workforce is a key component of a redesigned mental health and addiction system. As is the development and support of emergent and established leaders in many diverse roles, especially mātanga Māori.
A critical component of an effective workforce is their ability to provide culturally safe care that honour’s Te Tiriti o Waitangi. We have incredible and inspiring leadership and workforce innovation across the motu creating more effective services and models and developing the workforce to be the best it can be. Within this theme, we showcase Manukura and the importance of Māori Leadership. As well as models that demonstrate the impact of lived experience and peer led solutions.
